Blogger Recognition Award!

Mid-week last week, I got a comment from the lovely Alicia from the Stay At Home Cat Mom blog letting me know she’d nominated me for a blogger recognition award!

I was definitely caught off guard since I didn’t even know Alicia was a reader of KittyClysm! 100 thank yous to you Alicia for passing on the recognition award to me and 14 other bloggers to do!

I know these kinds of blogger awards are nothing to be taken too seriously! They’re definitely lighthearted and done for a little bit of fun, but they’re exciting to get regardless since, to me, they signal you’re doing a good enough job that one of your fellow bloggers has caught notice! And that’s such an awesome feeling! 🙂

A brief story on how my blog started:

I spent a long time blogging on my personal blog, Elise & Thomas, about Thomas and my life, and so much of it was overrun by cute pictures of Avery, posts about cats around the neighbourhood, well just cats in general, that I thought, sod it! I should open up a cat blog since I like writing about cats so much.

Of course the goal was to have Elise & Thomas a little less of a cat blog, but let’s be honest, I still post way too many cat posts on there, so it seems KittyClysm has just fed my addiction to kitties instead of helping me redirect my addiction someplace else 😉

Spoke about all this in my introduction post & my about page, so if it sounds like a rerun, you’re right! 😉

2 pieces of advice to new bloggers:

Don’t give up!

It’s hard being a newbie blogger, really hard! I’ve started so many blogs over the past few years it’s ridiculous. Each time I get that same, “This is so difficult!” feeling. Why? Because talking to crickets is no fun! There’s plenty of fun to be had blogging, but it’s tough at the start. Keep chucking along for long enough and you’ll end up with plenty of friends and amazing readers along the way. It’s a marathon, but one that’s super rewarding if you just stick it out long enough!

Don’t be afraid to reach out!

One of the things that makes blogging a lot easier and a lot more fun is networking with other bloggers. This can be really scary at first, but don’t be afraid to reach out! If someone turns you down or completely ignores your message, try not to take it personally, just keep trying! You’ll make connections – whether it’s through social media, through commenting on their blog regularly, or through emailing the blogger directly to chat. Whatever it is, you’ll find your place in this big ‘ol internet world! Just keep trying 🙂

Let me tell you, it was so hard to choose just 15 pet blogs!

I feel very guilty for leaving out a slew of remarkable pet bloggers – so I really think I’ll need to be doing a lot more of these round ups/spotlights in the future so I can feature all the rest of the pet blogs that deserve shout outs out there!

This community is full of so many loving people who do their best to spread positive shelter adoption messages, animal care awareness, and just sheer joy, entertainment, and amusement in the form of sharing their pets’ unique personalities with us readers! It’s a shame I didn’t get 50 spots to feature on this recognition award 😉

One extra shout out for good measures! Since I didn’t want to include anything besides cat or pet blogs in my 15 nomination spots, I didn’t have a spot in this award for one of the most supportive cat-mamma travel bloggers in the world: Tanja from The Red Phone Box Travels – thank you so much for being such a fabulous supporter of my KittyClysm posts, and my posts on Elise & Thomas as well for that matter!
