I wish Avery liked catnip as much as the next cat, but he falls into the 25-30% of cats that don’t really respond to catnip. Sure, he still loves nibbling on it, and even appreciates the smell, but those adorable after-effects so many cats have to catnip – not my kitty. Unfortunately for me, this means he’s pretty unphased by a good catnip toy – no matter how much other kitties would kill for that kind of a stuffed plaything.
Hasn’t stopped me from ogling over catnip toys before! In fact, some were just so cute in-store I bought them anyway to give them a shot with Avery, and when he didn’t bother playing with them, I “donated” them to other, more appreciative cats (namely, my mum’s and brother’s cats, Walker & Beau!).
Every once in a while I still wish Avery went coo-coo for catnip, but seeing as one day, once we move ourselves into a house, we’re hoping to have another cat, I can shift those wishes onto one day having a second kitty who’s more appreciative of these adorable toys and who will like catnip just as much as the other cats I know.
And of course in the meantime, I’ll keep my eye on the cuteness, and maybe every once in a while, when I can no longer help myself, splurge a little on the other cats I know.

15 Cutest Catnip Toys I’ve Laid Eyes On
1. OurPets Annette Catnip Fish
If I remember correctly, this is the very one I bought for my mum and my brothers’ cats – one for each. I saw these in a pet store and was so enamoured with them I thought, “Hey, might as well buy it for Avery – give it a shot.” Way too hopeful. He cared for 10 seconds. Then they were donated to his cousins who obsessed over them to the point they tore these catnip fishies to shreds. Hell, even then they were still interested in them. What a great toy. For cats besides my own that is.
2. Yeowww! Yellow Banana
Whenever I walk into a cat store, I typically ask about popular toys for kitties to see if I can find one that will stick with Avery. It’s especially hard for me to find something Avery likes, since he’s such a lazy cat – but I digress! The Yeowww! Yellow Banana has been recommended to me countless times; seems to be one ridiculously popular catnip toy amongst cats that love catnip. There’s no end to the adorable cat play videos on YouTube that feature this hilarious looking thing, so it looks like they’re highly recommended for good reason!
3. OurPets Play-N-Squeak Bunny
I’m sorry, but what on earth? I stand no chance against this level of cuteness. I want this adorable little bunny to play with for myself, let alone for my cat to play with. I think if I ever bought one of these and saw a cat play with it in person I’d die of cuteness overload instantaneously. Seriously high levels of cute being hit here.
4. MunchiCat Sushi Cat Toys
@!#!$(!@#!)@#. I cannot even begin to explain how downright adorable these are to me. I mean I don’t think they’re worth even close to the price, but if you deny the cuteness of these sushi catnip toys I think you might be brain damaged. The idea of a room of kittens playing with these sushi catnip toys makes me want to pass out in happiness. Cannot handle…
5. OurPets 24 Karrat Catnip Carrot
While we’re on the topic of food.. yeah I think this one is even more adorable than the banana. I think handing this to a kitty you’d have about 10 seconds to snap a shot before those feathers were torn out, but it’d make for an amazing picture! Who knows, maybe they’re really sewn in there, but nonetheless, with or without feathers, this catnip carrot is totally up my alley.
6. KONG Refillable Catnip Turtle
Yes, more animals. Though can you blame me when they’re this adorable? At first glance, reminded me of the turtles in Finding Nemo, though now that I look it up, those turtles actually look nothing like this.. Still crazy levels of cute.

7. Kitty Kandy Jumbo Sardine Catnip Toys
I looove these catnip fishies. That being said, I’m a sucker for pretty patterns, and toys that match but aren’t too matchy, so this set is up on the list of one of the first I’d get if I had a kitty who loved catnip. Maybe I’ll grab it to gift to some other cat-owned human.
8. OurPets Prickle Catnip Cactus
Yes, that is a cactus you see. Oh-so-cute and I think, quite original. If you’re not into the animals or the food catnip toys, this is 100% one I’d expect you might love. Quite charming in its minimalism, too.
9. Kathy Ireland Loved Ones Bunny Toy
Oh my goodness so cute. I feel like if I gave this to a toddler, it’d be the kind of thing he/she’d drag around everywhere. So much cute that, again, I would want to buy it for myself even if my cat didn’t want it!
10. KONG Crinkle Cat Toy
Yet another fish catnip toy, but I think the appeal of these for me is in those adorable feather tails. I do also like the way the fishies look, though – really dig the minimalist look in general, and so this is yet another fishie nip toy I’d definitely be up for buying.
11. Petlinks Parrot Tweet Cat Toy
Catnip + feathers + sound activation + really sleek and pretty = Petlinks’ Parrot Catnip Toy. I love the way this thing bundles as many cat-appealing odds and ends into one gorgeous cat toy package. Also happen to think it’s one of the prettiest nip toys out there. Love it!
12. Custom Kitty Creations Giant Catnip Kicker
Maybe not cute, but pretty enough, and it looks like the kind of thing a cat would adoooree kicking and playing with. I seriously think I might give this one a shot with Avery, as he loves kicking things like this regardless of whether they’ve got catnip stuffing or not.
13. KONG Refillable Catnip Squirrel
Okay, this one looks HIDEOUS when it’s empty, but I’ve seen pictures of it once it’s stuffed and – pretty stinkin’ cute! Also seems to be one of the most popular catnip toys on Amazon, which makes sense – I mean, it’s hilariously amusing to have as a stuffed animal, let alone a toy for your pet. Definitely think I’d amuse myself with this one. If Avery actually liked it, it’d be icing on the cake.
14. Petlinks Jeepers Creepers Catnip Rat
This is the one Avery’s got, his is in brown. I know it’s probably not at all what you think of as “cute,” but I think it’s pretty awesome. The most realistic looking rat toy I’ve found yet. First cat toy I ever bought for Avery and originally had it filled with catnip, but having since bought a second, never bothered to fill it’s belly with catnip again. Avery likes to attack it with or without it being full. Of course, he’s still pretty picky about when he’ll be up to play, and doesn’t kick it around for long, but it’s been more successful with him than most other toys. Also hilarious to watch guests think there’s a real rat in your house – which has happened to me a lot more times than you might think! I have a review of it up here in you’re interested in checking that out.
15. KONG Active Dangle Feet Teaser Wand
Not particularly cute, though they look really good from the perspective of a cat toy that may actually engage a kitty for longer than a moment. Again, these I think I might give Avery a shot with, as he’s liked cat wands in the past, and this teaser wand looks like a good toy regardless of whether or not your cat likes catnip. One of the few catnip toys that’s actually interactive as well.

Seen any cute catnip toys around that I’ve left out? Tried any of the nip toys I’ve mentioned above with your cat? How did kitty like ’em?
