I was so disappointed when I found out that Game of Thrones wouldn’t be returning until 2019! Needless to say, I’ve been in a bit of a withdrawal, thus spurring me to re-watch some of my favourite GoT scenes and inspiring this article right here.
I’ve spoken about alcohol-inspired pet names in the past, and managed to find a few I would absolutely adore naming a newly adopted pet. Brandy & Daiquiri are definitely some of my favourites from that theme. And now I’m here to do the same with some Game of Thrones themed pet names!
It isn’t past me to name a pet after a TV-show character. Actually, my own cat Avery was named after “Jackson Avery” from Grey’s Anatomy – because both my cat and the actor who plays Jackson (Jesse Williams) have piercingly gorgeous green eyes! Game of Thrones is definitely high up on my list of shows I would have zero problems naming a pet after. In fact, I’m sure there will have to be an Arya pop into my life sometime! Too good a name not to have in the family!
I’m not going to bother organizing names by male and female. Instead of listing alphabetically like last time, I thought I’d make browsing easier by making categories of my own. Let me know if there are any pet-worthy Game of Thrones names that should’ve been listed up here. I’m sure there are plenty of excellent ones I’ve overlooked!

Thoughts on Game of Thrones Pet Names?
Have you ever named a pet after a Game of Thrones character? If so, what kind of pet do you have? Cat, dog, mouse, rabbit?
If you haven’t done so yet, would you? And if so, which name would you choose?
Who’s your favourite Game of Thrones character, and would you choose that name for a pet or some other character’s name?
And again, if there’s a name that I’ve neglected to list, but you think should’ve been on here, let me know in the comments section down below!

Oh my goodness, I thought you were named after Dennis the Menace, too! Who knows, maybe your personality grew into the name and it was mom and dad’s fault you’re a menace now, for naming you Dennis! 😉 Can’t be blamed for that, haha!!

You missed Khaleesi. Might look at some of the other titles they have as well.
Elise Xavier says
Wow, I managed to overlook the MOST obvious, haha. Thank you so much for pointing this out! Added next to Daenerys.
Crystal and Daisy Mae says
Game Of Thrones? Heard of it but never watched or played it. Not familiar with it.Good post though.
Elise Xavier says
Thanks, Crystal! If you ever liked Lord of the Rings it’s something you should definitely try getting your hands on to watch! 🙂
Eastside Cats says
Well, gosh…have never watched GoT, so I have no opinions here. I have thought about naming a cat after a favorite character in some show, but Mulder and Scully are out (The X-Files), and Spock, Sulu, Kirk, Uhura (Star Trek) are just too old-fashioned now, as are Barnabas, Angelique and Quentin (Dark Shadows). When we adopted Superman and Bruce Wayne, and renamed them Manny and Chili Bruce, Chili is from Chili Palmer from “Get Shorty” movie, the character played by John Travolta.
Elise Xavier says
I love the name Manny for a cat name actually. I don’t think I’ve watched Get Shorty but I *love* John Travolta so I probably need to 😉
It’s so interesting how many factors you consider when you go through and name a pet, isn’t it?
