If you’re one of those people who (like me) loves a good pun, or if you’re the type who seriously digs the idea of having a theme when it comes to pet names – and you’re a big fan of alcohol, this is one for you!
You may think having naming conventions is a bit cheesy (I *usually* do, except that one time I named all my Pokemon after foods..), but I think as long as the names have a nice ring to them and can hold their own, the cheesiness goes away.
Picture from post I Never Used to Think I Was a “Cat Person”
It’s hard for me to see a cat named Daiquiri or Merlot as having a name that’s too much or too over the top – because those names sound so nice on their own that the fact they’re inspired by alcohol almost becomes secondary.
I’m honestly somehow tempted to one day go with an alcohol naming convention for a group of pets – say if I adopt a group of cat siblings, or if I one day adopt puppies.
A Brandy, Vino, & Jack group of Maltese dogs would honestly make my heart melt to call to the door for a walk!
Similarly, I cannot wrap my head around the daily amusement I’d have if I took in a couple of cat siblings and named them Gin & Tonic.
I would seriously die of happiness just thinking about their perfectly adorable names.
Either way, naming your pet after an alcoholic beverage is I think one of the cutest and most unique ways to go about naming an animal if you’re into the idea of using a theme.
Again, I’m not even usually one for naming conventions, but since there are so many names on this list I’d actually love to call a pet, I might have to reconsider.
Anyway, let’s cut to the chase and start listing!
Alcohol Inspired Pet Names for Cats, Dogs, & Any Other Pet!
Listed alphabetically (of course!) these are some of my favourite “alcoholic” pet names. 😉
I’ve taken the liberty of starring some of my absolute favourites on this list.
If I decided to go with alcohol as a naming convention for future pets, those are definitely the ones I’d choose to use!

I named my new Siamese kitten Martini after my beloved cat Houdini. Some of my friends were upset about an alcohol themed name but we used to name our cats after drinks as a kid.
