Life goes by fast and kids grow up too soon. While parents are always remarking about this when they think about their human babies, I don’t think we think about it as much as we should when it comes to our fur babies.
For those of us lucky enough to have been with our pets since they were wee little things, it’s nice to take a moment to look back and remember the old days. We definitely don’t do it as often as we should.
By chance, I did this a couple months back when I accidentally stumbled upon some pictures of my furbaby as a kitten. I found this gem of a shot –
Picture from post Avery’s Baby Pictures
– as well as a number of other too-cute-not-to-share ones. You can see those in the post I made reminiscing about my kitty as a kitten here.
So take a moment, find those baby pictures of your cat as a kitten, and do the same – remissness. What was your cat like back then? What’s changed? What’s exactly the same?
After you’re done, slather some of those pictures on Facebook to make them easy to find again. This kind of recollection should certainly happen more often!

It is a lot of fun to look at all of our baby kitten pictures. Many of the cats here wandered in as adults. I have some moms whose kittens are all still here. You all have a great day and thanks for visiting our blog.

It really is fun to look back! You have a great day, too! And of course! Will certainly be back π

last week was exactly 4 years that we got our cat:) he was so tiny when we rescued him from the shelter!
Elise Xavier says
Aww! Happy birthday to him! π And good on you for adopting him from a shelter!
Brian Frum says
Most of us don’t have any baby pics since we were a bit older when we were adopted.
Elise Xavier says
Well be sure to thank your pet parents because if it wasn’t for them, you may have had to wait a long time to find a forever home! They are good people π

Love your photo! I have all of Cody’s baby photos on his blog (and Facebook). I adopted him when he was 10 weeks old. He had giant ears then lol. He also had a pot-belly, which he still has! As a kitten, he had amber eyes, now they are a gorgeous clear green.
Elise Xavier says
Aww giant ears and a pot belly – what an adorable combination π
Wow I didn’t know their eye colour could change so dramatically – that’s a completely different colour! It must be very cool looking back, since so much has changed and yet so much has stayed the same as well!

Daisy Mae just fit into the palm of my Dad’s hand when she around 4 weeks old. I do have a baby picture but not of her that young. Daisy Mae’s mom dropped her off at our house.
Elise Xavier says
So sweet! I wonder what Avery looked like at that age. π

I wish I had baby photos of my cats, but I got them all as adults. Many I don’t even know their ages, they were drops offs that we took in.
Elise Xavier says
I’m sure your cats must be so grateful since it’s so much harder being adopted as adults!
When we first took in Avery (off the street – he was a stray/feral cat), we didn’t know he was a kitten. The vet we took him into told us he was full grown, but we found out in a few months that he most certainly was not! It’s funny now looking back at early pictures of him since we had a kitten/teenager but didn’t even know it.

I say when I can to take lots of photos of your new kitten(s) as they grow up fast, and you will be sorry if you only have one or two or none!
Elise Xavier says
I completely agree! I’d say you’ll be sorry you didn’t take more no matter how many you take! There are never enough pictures of kitties in their wee years.
Loulou says
Love the idea of posting baby pics of me, but alas, mama found me when I was past baby by about 5 months. I guess there are one or two I could dig up for the next post. I’ll mention your idea!!!
Elise Xavier says
5 months is definitely a baby! Well to me at least as that’s around the time we found Avery π
Can’t wait to see the pictures! You must’ve been the most adorable little kitten π
Pamela says
I have a kitty “nephew” who was adopted at about 2 years old. So no baby pictures. But I’m always encouraging my sister to take lots of pictures. Because you can never have enough pictures of the ones you love, right?
Elise Xavier says
Completely agree! On top of that, sometimes you think, “Wow that’s cute, but my pet does that a lot, so I’m not going to bother taking a picture.” Take one! Especially if you don’t have at least one good shot of it, because one day he/she may stop doing the-cute-thing and you’ll have missed the photo op! Or you’ll move and that “perfect spot” will be gone. You never know which memories you’ll wish you captured, so snap ’em all! π
Besides, there’s a reason people like staring at pictures of pets while they’re on the internet, it makes you happy! And I feel like it makes you even happier when you find old pictures of your own pet to look through. Great reminiscing about lovely moments you had with the ones you love.

That’s so true! I’m so glad I got a video of Kajsa fetching balls – she doesn’t do that anymore. I never saw my cats as kittens, and that’s ok (I wanted to adopt adult cats), but I’d love to see some pictures of them as kittens.
Then again… I probably don’t want to have contact to their former owners, whereever they live. It’s good that I don’t know who they are and where they live. π
Elise Xavier says
Yeah it’s definitely good you don’t know who the former owners are and where they live π Not nice people!
I’m glad you got that video of her fetching balls too – I’ve always found that so endearing! And cats rarely do it from what I’ve seen. Nice to be able to have the footage to rewatch!
